ITHACA, N.Y. — The annual Fab5 Awards have been announced, celebrating young professionals throughout Tompkins County impacting their respective fields.

The awards, organized by Tompkins Connect through the Tompkins Chamber, celebrate the contributions of people under 40 around the area.

Winners were announced as —

  • Business Leader of the Year: Herb Alexander, AVP of People and Culture and Chief Diversity Officer at Cayuga Health Systems

  • Volunteer of the Year: Kerry Anne Buckman, Volunteer Coordinator for Porchfest

  • Emerging Leader of the Year: Courtney Owens, Strategic Corporate Partnerships for Tompkins-Cortland Community College
  • nn

  • Not-for-Profit Leader of the Year: Megan Omohundro, Executive Director of the Community School of Music and Arts
  • nn

  • Industry Leader of the Year: Sarah Schnabel, co-owner of LaMorte Electric Heating and Cooling

The press release announcing the awards states the awards “showcase remarkable individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, community service, and professional achievement.” There were more than 70 nominations submitted.

The winners will be recognized at an event on Jan. 23, 2025 at the Hotel Ithaca. Tickets are available discounted now for $25 until Jan. 3 at the chamber’s website.
