Chi Phi Fraternity’s national organization has temporarily suspended its Cornell University chapter following allegations of a sexual assault involving multiple men, reported to Cornell Police on Nov. 8. According to Chi Phi’s Executive Director Michael Azarian, the decision to suspend was made independently by the fraternity’s national body. The reported incident, which occurred at an off-campus event on Oct. 25, involved a victim who said they were coerced into consuming ketamine and other drugs before being assaulted. A university crime alert issued on Nov. 8 disclosed the location but did not identify Chi Phi directly. Cornell’s Vice President of Student and Campus Life, Ryan Lombardi, condemned the alleged crime and urged anyone with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
